How we investigate supplements
What goes into a Clearline review, and what does not.
For every review we
- read the product page text and every image we can read, including labels and marketing graphics, and compare each claim with what is shown;
- note which ingredients are named and whether amounts appear beside them;
- check the arithmetic: serving sizes, bottle counts, day-supply claims, and any “you save” figures;
- look up what research says about the main ingredients, and about their safety record where one exists;
- read price and guarantee wording on every page we can open, and say so when a page will not load; and
- search for independent coverage, complaints, and similar products readers might confuse with the one we are reviewing.
What we do not do
- We do not run laboratory tests or clinical trials, and we do not buy and trial every product. We review what brands and other publishers publish.
- We do not invent quotes or statistics. If a claim cannot be traced, we say so.
- We do not take payment for a score, and no brand sees or edits a review before it goes live.
How the score works
Each review rates the same six areas out of five and averages them:
- Ease of use: how simple the daily routine is.
- Guarantee clarity: how plainly the refund terms are stated, and whether we could read them.
- Ingredient naming: whether ingredients and amounts are disclosed.
- Manufacturing standards: whether a maker and facility standards are named, not just badges.
- Value for money: whether prices are consistent and savings claims check out.
- Label and marketing transparency: whether the claims hold up when checked.
Sponsored sources
Much of what is public about supplements comes from sponsored articles carrying affiliate links. When we rely on one, we say so and weigh each claim on its merits.
